RARE TIKI MUG Seattle Kalua Room Tonga Princess ~ Tonga Taboo  Price $399

RARE Tiki Mug from the Kalua Room in Seattle, Washington. Measures 9½" tall, the interior is white the exterior is light beige. It's marked on the bottom KALUA ROOM, SEATTLE WASH.  This mug depicts the Tonga Princess decorated with molded jewel necklace and headdress, a secondary figure appears on the back. Over all good condition, I found one flea bite to the glaze on the rim, there's a factory formed divot on the tip of her right shoulder, glazed so original to the manufacturing of this piece.   This mug was featured with the drink the "Tonga Tabu", I found the images of the original Kalua Room exterior and menu online,  the menu describes the drink as light rums with lemon, oranges, limes, liqueurs and flavorings, "A tropical trill that connoisseurs rave about". The mug is glazed beige with brown flecks over a white base.

info found online: "The Kalua Room at the Windsor Hotel was on the corner of 6th & Union, just 6 blocks away from where the Outrigger was at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel. Today there's a large shopping and restaurant complex on the site where the Windsor stood."
